Support the Wrongful Death Statute Legislation in New Jersey
The New Jersey Senate and Assembly just passed new legislation giving
family members a cause of action in a wrongful death case for the
emotional pain and suffering one endures. Until now, the only claim
family members had was for the economic loss they suffered. A death
claim in NJ for the loss of a young child or elderly parent had very
little value.
ATLA-NJ has been trying for over 20 years to get a bill approved and
this is the closest we have ever gotten - it’s now or never!
The bill is now on Governor Corzine’s desk awaiting his signature. We
need as many people as possible to call the Governor and ask that the
bill be signed. The governor’s office is not taking names or numbers -
just a numerical count of those asking that the bill be signed or
vetoed.
The governor has not yet made up his mind.
